Beast isn't the only one who has beef with those guys." Jaxton froze, and I visualized him shooting Ace a death glare. I peered around, and Ace swallowed a gulp. Blade chewed on his thumbnail to suppress a grin. I muscled my way to the bar and poured myself a shot, needing something strong to take the edge off.

His speech and articulation had been very advanced for a four-year-old, but after pouting and frowning, he finally looked his age. “But running away won’t solve the problem. She’ll still tattle to your mom,” Ed said. He didn’t know who Rosemore was, but he followed the conversation. AJ smacked his forehead. “You’re right!” Reluctantly, he grabbed his bag. “What’s your name, mister?” AJ asked. Curious before they parted. “Just call me Beast.” Ed pointed to the scar on his face. AJ laughed. “You’re not as bad as the beast,” he said.

First came the **Iron-Scale Pitbull**—a massive, seven-foot beast of a shifter whose skin was covered in dark, metallic reptilian scales, his jaw dripping with acidic foam. Next entered the **Void-Blade Brothers**—twin syndicate assassins from the North, their bodies woven with shadow-relics that allowed their arms to blur into razor-sharp spectral edges. And finally, from the central gate, stepped **Victor Vance**. Agnes’s breath caught in her throat.

Although he and his son fought until his death, he still loved him greatly. Fernando punched Romano hard in the face, making a nasty sound as it hit. Romano fell backward onto the mansion floor, and blood splashed across the marble like red paint. He coughed violently, his vision blurring as he glanced up at Fernando, who had transformed into the beast everyone had always called him. Fury burned in his golden eyes, now a seething, savage red. Romano felt a shiver of fear inch down his spine; he realized too late that he had released this wild dog.
