Royal Rivalry
Before I could react, his sword tapped mine in the perfect strike.
“Three points to Bellamere.”
My chest heaved with the weight of defeat. With nine points, he had won. He lowered his sword and gave me a small nod.
“You did well,” he said with a surprisingly gentle voice. “Better than I expected for a newcomer.”
I wanted to hit him and storm off. And maybe never speak to him again. But something in the way he spoke made me pause.
“You need to understand something,” he continued, walking closer, voice low enough for only me to hear. “You can't beat me. Never.”
