Her bright blue eyes are so bright, it’s like looking at the clearest sky. As sleep finally pulled me under, my dreams are so vivid, it’s as though I am there, reaching out to touch her just as she disappears. Panic rises within me as the scene around me fades,standing in a void of darkness, before she reappears always just out of reach. There is something behind her eyes, a sadness so deep.

Not even them. We should have walked past them. That was the smart thing to do, but we did not, because the moment she turned around, my brain stopped working for a second. Her eyes were green. Not wolf-red like an Alpha. Not beta-yellow. Not omega-blue. Just green. Something about her eyes surprised me. It was not just the color. It was the way she looked back at me. Like she could see through the dark, through the space between us, through me. I do not like it when people can read me if they haven’t earned it. My steps slowed down, and that made me mad.

The guards immediately rushed over and dragged Amanda away like a sack of trash. She continued struggling, her hoarse cries carried away by the wind. "Tobias! You can't do this to me! I regret it. I really regret it!" Through the rearview mirror, I watched the woman who had once been so arrogant and untouchable get tossed aside like garbage on the curb. And to my surprise, I felt absolutely nothing, not even the slightest ripple of emotion. "Do you know her?" Olivia asked softly. I withdrew my gaze and turned toward the woman beside me—the woman who radiated warmth, kindness, and peace. A faint smile appeared on my lips. "No. Just some crazy woman."

But her eyes tells me everything. She looks like she would break down anytime but she managed keep herself together. She looks scared and uncertain when she stared back at me yesterday while I was telling her off. She may look strong on the outside but her eyes told me something else yesterday. Shit. Why the fuck am I thinking of her this way?! Why am I curious to know what she hides behind her walls? I shouldn't be feeling curious this way! I barely know her and I don't plan on getting to know her anytime soon.

There was something about her eyes that seemed different…almost inhuman. I concentrated on her eyes, trying to figure out what was wrong with it now, even as I stood frozen in my spot. With a start I realized that it wasn’t the blazing desert sun that was playing tricks with her eyes, they seemed to be glowing from within, like a diamond does when light strikes the right angles.

There is something in her eyes when she stares you down that speaks of a long history with an endless stream of darkness. My words catch in the back of my throat as Winifred’s beady eyes lock onto my face. Her intelligent gaze studies me intently, as if she is seeing something that no one can see, and more than what I have shared. A shiver moves down my spine as she watches me with her hawk eyes, not missing a single thing.

I shouldn't be thinking about that now but the evening judgements. The door opened and I closed my eyes immediately. My body just acted on it own. Why did I close my eyes? I wanted to remain that way with my eyes closed. Her scent was so strong and she seems to be coming closer to me. I opened my eyes a little to see what she was about to do. She stood by my bed and stared at my face for a while, before she turned and headed towards the study room. She was about opening the door when her eyes caught hold of the book on the drawer. She ran to pick it up and opened to a page and licked out the paper from it. She stared at it for a while and smiled.

She doesn't budge and just watched my every move as I advanced toward her, half-naked. Other women would be scared and try to run and fight when I catch them. But not her. she exclaimed in joy. “What?” I asked out of curiosity, not wanting her to beat around the bush. “I got tickets for double!” she shouted. “No, you didn’t!” I said in disbelief. “I did!” Linds said, rather calmly “Ahhhhhh, oh my goodness. You just made my day. You’re the best! I could literally cry right now” i said as i run around the room in joy. I run to her to give her a thank you hug. She never passed a chance to surprise me.

She did not cling to the walls or test the bars like an animal desperate for escape. She observed. That alone set her apart. Her eyes were the first thing I noticed. Emerald green, sharp, piercing, unnervingly clear. Not the soft green of innocence, not the dull green of fear. These eyes assessed, catalogued, stripped rooms and people down to their bones. They lingered on nothing too long, missed nothing at all. Those eyes had seen violence and learned from it.
