The barrage of bad news hit him harder and harder, until disbelief was the least of his worries. Zach couldn't believe I'd really moved out and left him at the altar. It was inconceivable I'd ever do this to him.
An inexplicable sense of panic started to slither up his heart. He scrambled to fish his phone out and called me, but all he found were beeps. He tried texting, but I never responded.
Zach grabbed his assistant by the collar. Then, he demanded, his eyes wild, "What do you mean, she left me at the altar? Where did she go?"
