"I'm hacking the grid! But it's Soviet tech! It's all vacuum tubes and duct tape!" "Use the EMP!" Haley screamed, throwing a rock at a ghost car. "Oh, right! The button!" Ben slapped a large red button on his chest. THWUMP. A pulse of electromagnetic energy ripple out from Ben's suit. The streetlights exploded. The bumper cars died instantly, their momentum carrying them into walls and trees. The red shadows flickered and vanished into the ether. Silence returned to the playground. "Nailed it," Ben panted, giving a thumbs up. Then his suit's speaker played a Windows XP shutdown sound. "Uh oh. I think I shut myself down too."

It was as if the air itself was encouraging her, urging her to go further. Thunder and lightning were next. Marissa closed her eyes, focusing on the energy in the atmosphere. She could feel the static electricity crackling around her fingertips.
