Best Bedtime Reading For Adults Novels & Stories

He said he won't be using his office for this night since the air condition needed to be fixed. Meanwhile, in Ben's room, reading his favorite bedtime story; Peterpan. He is the one reading it and I am helping him when he can't read a word. Before, I'd be so happy of Ben because he could finish the entire book without my help, but after that accident that happened to him, it just breaks me into pieces. But at least he's learning again. And I'll always be proud of Ben no matter what. There came a knock by the door and as soon as it swings open, Landon' head popped out. "Is Ben asleep?" He asks.

"Mama. Dada. Luna sleep?" "It's 7 PM, baby. Way past your bedtime." "Story first?" "Always story first." We followed her to her room—no longer a nursery, now a full toddler room with a big girl bed she'd recently transitioned to. "Which book tonight?" Alexander asked. "ALL books!" "We're not reading all the books. Pick three." "Five!" "Three." "Four!" "Deal. Four books." She selected them carefully. "Hungry Caterpillar. Wild Things. Good Night Moon. And... this one!"

"That the people who stay are the ones who were supposed to." He looked at the book. "Not the ones who were convenient. Not the ones who were merely suitable." He looked back at her. "The ones who were supposed to." She sat with that for a long moment. Then: "Read it to me." He looked at her. "It's a children's book." "I know," she said. "Read it to me." Something moved in his expression. "All right," he said. He opened the book. He read it in twenty minutes—the whole of it, slowly, in the kitchen with the September evening at the windows and the south garden doing its seasonal work and the house quiet around them in the way it was quiet on Friday evenings when it was simply being held by th

“Not tonight.” I left the leather volume on the worktable and practically fled to my bedroom. The sheets were cool when I crawled beneath them, still wearing my oversized sweater and lounge shorts. I pulled the covers up to my chin, closed my eyes, and willed myself to sleep. I’ll read more in the morning, I told myself. When the strange feeling is gone. When Stan’s angry words aren’t still ringing in my ears. Sleep came faster than expected, pulling me under like warm, scented oil.

Xavier said as I settled Loise in bed. “Okay,” I nodded, because I had something to ask him as well. I nodded and picked her bedtime stories. It was a Sleeping Beauty retelling. Xavier’s POV I never thought I’d attend a book reading, talk less of one for little children, yet here I was watching Nicole read bedtime stories about a sleeping knight and the princess who came to save him. “You do this to make her sleep at night?” I asked. “Yes, you should also try it since you have that thing… insomnia,” Loise said.

By the time we reached our rooms the day had loosened enough that I could breathe through it. I made dinner while I listened to them argue about whose turn it was to pick the bedtime story, then listened to them negotiate, then listened to them read to each other. By the time the light was off and they were asleep, I sat at my desk for an hour and worked on the protocol notes until my eyes grew heavy.

I sighed. His black loungewear contrasted with the cream-colored bedsheets. I walked over, gently plucked the book from his grasp, and held it up with mock disapproval. I sat beside him and suggested, "Instead of reading, how about I tell you a bedtime story?" Amusement flickered in his eyes. "That drink is hitting you pretty hard," he said with a smirk tugging at his lips. I waved away his comment and patted my thigh invitingly. "Come on, it will put you to sleep fast! Don always liked to rest his head on my lap, and often fell asleep like that..."

I've had soothing tea, I've smoked a joint provided by a fellow hippie downstairs… I've tried literally everything, but hello, insomnia, feel free, since you insist! I look at the furniture in the room, whose shadows are like animals moving strangely in the dark. But that doesn't scare me, it makes me bored. To top it off, Loretta is snoring like an angel in the next bed. So jealous! On his headboard, a book whose new title catches my attention. I remember how effective the reading was in returning my dream and I risk trying the same strategy again. Carefully, I take the book from Loretta's bedside table and turn on a dim light on my cell phone so I can read under the blanket. I know it's no

Reese said as he motioned to the monitor where Gigi was reading a spicy lesbian romance book to the sleeping babies. “Seriously? That’s what she reads to them?” “Don’t even.” Her dad warned. “I’ve seen the books that you’ve given Dean and put on her e-reader.” His daughter blushed slightly. “She’s practically an adult.” “And they have no idea what she’s saying. It’s the tone and the fact that she’s reading to them. When they’re awake, it’s classics and children’s stories.” “Fine.” Cheryl groaned.

Adina led him into his bedroom and said gently, “Do you want a bedtime story from me?” “Okay.” Alden took the book that was placed at the head of his bed. It was a book of idioms, one that was a little more on the esoteric side. Alden leaned against the bed and read the book slowly. After three stories, Alden finally closed his eyes and fell asleep. She switched off the light and tiptoed out of the room before gently closing the door behind her. Just then, she saw Duke also coming out of Melody’s room.
