SWEET SPOT
“Just… stay here for a bit.”
I let out a slow breath I didn’t realize I had been holding. My hand found its way to her hair, fingers moving almost on their own, stroking the soft strands. She made a quiet, content sound and pressed closer.
It felt strange.
Not the paid-for kind of strange. Not the secret, window-climbing, money-on-the-nightstand kind of strange. This was quieter. Warmer. Like something a real couple might do after a hard day.
Gwen lifted her head after a while and looked at me. Her fingers came up to gently touch the side of my face, brushing under my eye.
