Aurelia followed, shrugging off her coat and draping it over the back of her chair. A waiter with sharp cheekbones and an easy smile brought menus, switching between French and English with a practiced charm. They ordered café crème, fresh orange juice, and a basket of pastries.
As the waiter walked away, Chloé rested her chin on her hand, eyes gleaming. “Paris is beautiful, oui, but the people…” She gave a slow shrug, her rings flashing in the morning light. “Some are… how you say… dangerous.”
