“Hold power in,” I echoed, my eyes drifting to the shard. It sat there, unassuming, but I swore I felt a hum in the air, a vibration too low to hear. I picked up another ledger page, scanning it, and froze. A phrase jumped out, written in a different hand, sharper, more deliberate: Ignis vincit omnia. Fire conquers all.
