I froze.
That was when a voice slithered into the air.

I spun toward the sound, though my blind eyes could see nothing. My pulse raced. The voice was neither male nor female, but both at once. It was rich, low, and slippery like oil on water.
“Betrayal is sharper than any blade,” it continued. “It comes not from strangers but from those you hold close; family, friends, and lovers. Trust is the knife, and they twist it deep.”
