Never: HIS REGRET
It had been four solid years, yet I hadn’t moved past my old mistakes and misdeeds.
I was still lost in thought when the door swung open. I turned in that direction, my eyes locking with Peter’s as he approached, holding some kind of book in his hands.
“Sir, the news this morning,” he chimed, stretching the papers toward me.
“I don’t need any newspaper,” I answered, feeling irritated by the interruption as I waited for him to leave.
He stood firm for a moment before lifting the file in his hands, his gaze meeting mine. I remained still, watching his antics, which were already getting on my nerves; but I chose to stay calm.
