Hopelessly Devoted
I watched them go, still trying to process what had just happened.
Betty, meanwhile, was still crying, her body shaking with fear. I knelt down beside her and wrapped my arms around her, trying to comfort her.
"It's okay, Betty," I whispered, trying to soothe her. "She's gone now. You're safe."
But Betty just kept crying, her tears streaming down her face. I held her close, trying to absorb some of her fear and anxiety.
As we sat there, I couldn't help but think about Riezel's behavior. It was like she had a split personality or something. One minute she was sweet and charming, the next she was furious and violent.
