Julian sighed. “You can’t live your life apologizing for things you didn’t cause. You’re here now. You can honor her memory by living. By remembering her with just the kindness.”
Sophia’s lips trembled. “That’s the hardest part.”
Julian pulled back slightly, brushing her hair from her face. “Do you want to talk more about her?”
She shook her head. “Not right now. If I do, I’ll break again.”
He nodded silently. “Alright. Come on, sit back.” He stood and said softly, “I’ll get you some water.”
