Unforgiven by the Skies

Unforgiven by the Skies

However, they gathered around before dispersing without touching my body. The sky burial practitioners were surprised by this. "The vultures aren't eating the corpse!" They exchanged looks. "Only those who have committed evil deeds are forsaken by the vultures during a sky burial." I looked at the vultures who hovered, unwilling to leave yet also not eating my corpse. A bitter smile painted my lips. It seemed Gideon had been right all along. I was an evil person who didn't even deserve to have a sky burial. The sky burial practitioners looked at my body, feeling distressed. Gideon said helplessly, "Let's collect the corpse and contact her family to pick her up. Since she's an Emperian, she c

Beyond The Surface

Beyond The Surface

I stood outside the hotel, the chill of the night creeping into my bones as a breeze rustled through the trees lining the street. The sky had turned a deep shade of gray and the air was heavy with the scent of impending rain. It was already 10:30 PM and I anxiously checked my phone for the umpteenth time to see if the cab Maxwell had promised would arrive. Why hadn’t I just driven my own car? I cursed my decision to leave it behind, knowing fully well that the hotel was miles away from the company and now I was at the mercy of a delayed cab.

Beyond The Echoes Of You

"Maybe you're overthinking this, Mike. You know people do have doppelgangers, and what if you meeting her is just a mere coincidence? I really don't think you need bother yourself with this. She may look like May, and also bear the same name as her, but you must know that she isn't our May. May is—" "I know, Alicia." Mike calmly interrupted her. "I know she's gone and she's never coming back. There's no way she must have magically returned to earth because this isn't a fantasy book or a movie." He smiled sadly. "What was I even thinking? I didn't go to London because of this."

Moonlit Shadows

Moonlit Shadows

The song was enchanting, but it carried an undertone of something wild and untamed. Ezra, clutching the Celestial Harp, said, "The Harp's resonating with the fusion. I can feel its energy growing, trying to maintain the balance." Liora, concern evident in her voice, responded, "We need to guide it, to ensure this fusion doesn't spiral out of control." Niamh, pointing towards the horizon, added, "Look there! The sky, it's... fracturing!" True enough, the sky was a canvas of swirling colors, with cracks of brilliant light breaking through, creating pathways to unknown dimensions.

She bared her teeth and let out a deafening roar, hoping to intimidate the wolves. Just when all hope seemed lost, as Samantha and her children braced themselves for the inevitable attack, the ground shook beneath them as Alexander's massive form burst through the trees.

Atlas glanced back at me and softly said, "Hold on tight, This road is a bit long. Swarms of insects flew overhead in the dark light, resembling a downpour. I couldn't help but remember Atlas's words, "Mosquitoes as big as golf balls." Now, it seemed not exaggerated at all. "Honey, is this the road to the base?" I leaned forward and clutched onto his seat. "No, it's a remote village. Then we need to enter the forest from here to reach their base," Atlas said, glancing at me and patting my hand. "We'll have to go through the forest later. Sit tight!"

It was a good book. A lot of the mixup/changes in names/locations was very annoying. Wish we would have gotten a little more out of the ending of one of the main villains. Chapters also needed to be longer; a lot of money spent on this book for 5-6 pages per chapter.

I loved this book. I liked all the characters and their interactions. Loved Atlas & Chloe together. Parts of the book are very suspenseful and made it hard to put down. Liked that she was a mom and a business owner. She was strong and intelligent. Hated that the book was over. Highly recommend.

Beyond The Lies

Beyond The Lies

IN some way, Adelina felt out of sorts as all the while, Jonathan McCurby hadn't sent a message across to her or even visited. She had bargained for an extravaganza— huge bouquet of flowers, a live band probably and whatever Jonathan deems fitting of the moment as it was typical of him to lavish her with exorbitant gubbins all the time. Although, she was aware that he was out of the state and had only just returned to Chicago yesterday. So, she comforted herself in this as the last reason she could think of was the thought screaming in her head — Jonathan had moved on.

Evelyn's POV Half an hour had passed since I returned with the cigarettes. Other than ordering me to buy Serena a milkshake, Adrian Bennett had not looked at me once. He and Serena Blake discussed the case they had won the week before, then moved on to their plans for the firm's future. I could no longer remember how many times I had become background scenery whenever the three of us were together. Only after Serena answered a message did Adrian finally turn toward me in surprise. "Why haven't you gone yet?"

The Skies Cleared Before Our Wedding

The Skies Cleared Before Our Wedding

"I can change back! I can fix it." I offered a slow shake of my head. "Not every broken thing in this world can be repaired." My cab pulled up to the curb, and I reached out to pull the door open, sliding into the back seat. Tristan stood frozen outside the vehicle, suddenly reaching through the open window to thrust the premium designer shopping bag toward me. "It's raining." I cast a brief glance out the window. The sky had indeed turned incredibly dark and overcast, but the first drops of rain hadn't even begun to fall yet.

Ashes of the Sky

Ashes of the Sky

Gods. A pair of gryphons soar overhead, their bondeds laughing as they dive through the clouds. Direwolves and their humans moving in perfect sychronizon. One particulary unimpressed frost lynx lounges across a tree branch, glaring down at everyone beneath it like they are personally offending its existence. Further in the distance, Ironclad dragons train with their bondeds, bronze scales glimmering beneath the rising sun. Terrifying, but majestic. For a few silent moments, I simply watch. Because despite all else, I still love them. I always have, even though Aetherion Academy was not supposed to be my future.
