Mykel’s wolf was silver, a breed of wolf known for their extraordinary gifts. This year was our turn to hold the annual Alpha meeting. Ever since Mykel stepped up and took over from his father, he had avoided each one with the excuse he wasn’t ready. But not this year, had we refused to accommodate it would have been seen as a great disrespect to the surrounding packs as well as those who are coming from further away.

Ghost’s raspy voice asked over the receiver. “Obada,” Elder Obada said finally gaining his confidence back. “I have a deal proposition for you.” “Obada.” Ghost said the name like it was a familiar one and he was trying to remember where he had heard the name. “I’ve never heard that name in my life. Who are you?” “Elder Obada,” Elder Obada said. “The Alpha of the biggest werewolf pack in the world, the Black Wolf Pack.” Ghost paused for the quarter of a minute before he burst out laughing. “Is this like a joke or what?”

“So, those titles, what do they mean again?” “Ah, right,” William begins. “The Alpha is the leader of any given pack. He’s either the strongest or the most cunning of the pack. Alphas are faster, stronger, and slightly bigger than the rest of the normal wolves. They run the pack, and everything they say goes. Trust me, you do not want to disobey an Alpha, especially in front of others.” He looks at me to see if I’m following. “I’m good,” I say. “Go on.”

She wasn't moving, in fact she was barely breathing. The howl that erupted from Kade's throat was primal and devastating. It tore through the night air, shaking the trees, sending every bird within a mile radius scattering into the sky. The sound carried across the pack lands, its was a pure Alpha rage mixed with anguished grief, a declaration that something precious had been harmed and blood would answer for it. Every wolf within hearing distance felt that howl in their bones, felt their Alpha's fury and pain, and knew that someone had made a fatal mistake.

However when I got ran outside, I froze. Among the many pack members on the ground drenched in the pool of blood stood a magnificent wolf. It was so huge, so handsome, so furry… I didn't even know the rightful words to describe it. “Mr. Black.” Bianca gasped, covering her mouth. That wolf was indeed so mighty that it could only belong to an Alpha. I had never seen Kael’s wolf until that day. It was as handsome as he was in his true form. “We need to get back inside, Alpha Aria.”

My father paused before suddenly yelling at me really loudly, "What's with the crying?! An Alpha's daughter only bleeds but never cries! Tell me, did that rascal bully you?!" I wanted to say 'No' nonchalantly, but all reason fell apart when I heard the familiar yelling. "He never loved me, Dad…" I cried and grieved like a little child. Tears poured down my face like a waterfall. They refused to stop no matter how hard I tried. I used up a lifetime of tears in that call. My father was initially quiet, but he soon cried with me as well. "Oh, my poor Rhea. Come home. Heavenly Wolf Pack will always be your home."

’ I call out through the mindlink. ‘Yes, Alpha!’ I hear 70 voices respond through the link instantly. I shift to my wolf, and Lucas and Tobias do the same. My big black wolf is almost the size of a bear. Alpha wolves are always bigger. Tobias being my Beta, his tan wolf is not much smaller than mine. Lucas’ white and brown wolf is the third largest in the pack. We follow the tracks that belong to Justin’s wolf. All of a sudden, his tracks are not the only ones we see.

The wolves surrounded him, ready to take his life as they were commanded not to leave any survivors except the Alpha's daughter. Then, two wolves burst from the shadows and suddenly started attacking the rogues. One was a huge black wolf, twice the size of all the other wolves, and the other was a brown wolf. The huge black wolf’s eyes gleamed red, symbolizing that he was an Alpha, but that wasn't what made the rogues fear him—the mark on the wolf's face made them recognize him as Alpha Kayden and without waiting, they all took to their heels.

But thankfully, I hadn’t gone too far from the street. By the time I make it back to my motel room, it’s almost midnight. I lock the door behind me and collapse on the floor. Everything that just happened comes back to me and I can’t help but shiver. A part of me is still terrified by the encounter with those four men, but most of my brain is preoccupied with thoughts of that black wolf. Who was that?… or rather, what was that?! I remember seeing Alpha Magnus’ wolf once, and a pack member had bragged that he had one of the largest wolves ever seen in an Alpha. And with Alphas the general rule is that the larger the wolf, the more powerful the Alpha.
