Taking a large leap forward, he shifted into his large grey Alpha wolf that dug his paws into the earth, preparing to protect his mate and title at any costs. His wolf seemed bigger than she remembered. He radiated more power and his build intensified, making him scary to anyone that dared face him. His fur was sticking straight out to make him appear larger, and his chest was puffed to intimidate Wilson’s to try and deescalate the situation. That unlucky man, however, was his best friend and beta.

I let out a blood-curdling scream the moment I saw the huge black wolf standing outside my bathroom window. He glared at me with his golden eyes, howling, which made me jump in my spot. I dashed outside the door with only the towel covering my body and slipped inside the blanket on my bed. It was difficult to calm down my beating heart. He turns around and looks at me. “What did you do today?” He asks. “Nothing,” I reply and he gives a half smile that does not touch his tired eyes. “So your name’s Derek?” I ask out of the blues and the way his eyes widen in astonishment tells me I caught him off guard. “Yes,” he says, quickly picking himself up from the shock. “How did you know that?” He asks softly. “The scary wolf with black eyes called you Derek. Is he the Alpha?” “Right, Nate. Uh, he’s not the Alpha. He’s my best friend. One of the strongest werewolves in the territory.”

I answered as I spoke into the microphone placed in front of me. A woman raised her hand, who I recognized as Alpha Mira of the Solitary Pack. She had my respect because she was the only female Alpha I had come across and regulating a pack was a hard task. “Why don't we all join forces then? After all, the war is bound to affect everyone; Every supernatural being and even humans,” she spoke in a genteel tone. She had a point, but a werewolf’s pride was intoxicating. This was something she wouldn't understand because women were selfless and thought of what would be best for everyone. But that was not the case here amid power-hungry men, who only thought selfishly.
