Jeremiah took a slow sip before speaking. “Nice place. Bigger than I expected. But then again, you always liked your privacy.”
“I value peace,” Jeremi replied coolly.
“Peace,” Jeremiah repeated, amused. “That’s a luxury men like us can’t afford.”
The words hung between them. Jeremi leaned back slightly, studying his cousin. He’d aged well the kind of ageless confidence that money and power polished, not time. Yet, beneath the smooth exterior, there was something darker, something feral , the same look Jeremiah had when he was young, right before a fight.
