She felt so bad for them, but there was nothing she could do for them.
The mansion was a hive of activity. Vampires and humans were running up and down, carrying bodies outside, cleaning blood from the floors and walls. They ran into Matthew and Samuel, carrying their dead brides outside. Matthew had lost two, but he didn’t look nearly as grief-stricken as Samuel.
Elizabeth sat off to the side, wringing her hands, her face swollen with tears. Declan stopped, and picked up one of Matthews’s brides to carry her outside. Aster sat next to Elizabeth, and put her arm around her – neither spoke. There was nothing to say.
