As they catch the light they glow bright gold, reflecting the light back like the eyes of a cat. The streetlight above him starts to flicker and die. Then the next one. And the next. I tap on Faye’s shoulder and that is when we see that his eyes are still glowing, even in the dark. In his hands he holds a crossbow made of light. And it is pointing right at us.

I reached for my water, my eyes tracking the way his throat bobbed when he swallowed. "Is that a crime?" "You don't eat here," he rasped, finally lifting his head. Those green eyes were blown out, the pupils swallowing the iris until they were almost entirely black. "You eat... there." He gave a sign vaguely toward the center of the room where the team was staring at us like we had both grown second heads. "I eat where I want," I replied. I took a bite of my sandwich, watching him. "Why are you sitting in the dark? You like being a ghost?"

Her teeth flashed white in the dim rooftop light. "Look at them down there," Lydia hissed under her breath, her chest rising and falling in shallow, erratic hitches. She reached into her coat pocket, pulling out a single, heavy metal casing. The high-pitched screech of a transmission blast filled the room. For a second, everything was bathed in eerie blue then darkness. The power failed.

Zeus picks up a sword that is shining so bright it is hard to look at. “I finally found the right incantation to transfer the light from the glow worms into the swords. I did the same for spears.” Holly walks towards the last object which is a black ball, “What is that?” Zeus quickly holds her back, “Careful, that is a light bomb. I mixed light magic with gunpowder so when the bomb hits a surface it becomes an explosion of light.” Nolan looks at Zeus impressed, “You have outdone yourself, Zeus. Can we test them?”
