(Elaine’s POV) I was enjoying my breakfast when a butler—black shiny hair with ear length bangs covering half of his forehead and one of his eyes—His dark brown eyes shot me a glance as he stepped near Madam Rhea and whispered something to her. Madam Rhea replied back, before motioning her hands to another butler—one who was standing at the side of the dining hall as if preparing for any call. A few moments after that, the same butler returned to the dining hall with a black purse on the tray in his hands. Madam Rhea picked up the purse and unzipped it. Then, talking something again with the black haired butler, she handed him an object that looked like a piece of card. After that, the butle

"We're just waiting for one final attendee." I barely looked up. "Of course." The door behind me opened. Footsteps echoed across the room. Strong. Unhurried. Confident. For reasons I couldn't explain, every hair on my arms stood up. The room fell strangely quiet. Someone beside me stood. "Good morning, Mr. Blackwood." My heartbeat stopped. Slowly... Very slowly... I turned around. And there he was. Ethan. Seven years had changed him. He looked broader. More mature.

Finally the woman came back with a grim smile. “Follow me please.” She stated opening the half door so the butler could follow her through. “Layal, you have the floor to yourself for the time being.” The small framed woman called to the man who was speaking with a customer. He nodded as they disappeared into the hallway. The woman led the butler to a room where she did a series of knocking before the door opened. They entered and the first thing that the butler noticed was a man with white hair sitting down behind a desk. He was quite young with white hair. He was an anomaly for sure.

“Don’t do it. Don’t let him in.” “I need answers,” I murmur. “And he may have them, if not how else do we explain this?” I frown deeply She curses under her breath, then turns toward the door. “Then I’ll be right here.” With a trembling hand, I step forward and unbolt the lock. The door creaks open. And there he is. Zane Blackwood. Tall. Wet from the rain. His black hair clings to his forehead. His eyes, amber, sharp, they find mine immediately. He looks exhausted. Hollowed out. Like he hasn’t slept in days.

She softly flung open the window and took a peek outside. She could see two men conversing and exchanging objects, but she was unable to make out what they were exchanging. It was dark outside, and her eyes were already tired and yawning for some sleep. One of the men appeared to have the same body type as the butler, and she was able to identify him by his shape, but she was unable to identify the other man. The other man was dressed in all black, and he had a hat on that covered his face. They shook hands, and the man left the mansion as the butler returned to the house.

The old Blackwood mansion stood miles away from the city — beautiful and magnificent as always. When we finally arrived, the gates opened automatically for us. The garden was wild, and unkept. I wondered what Raine was doing recently. The house loomed tall and cold against the night sky. I stepped out of the car and walked toward the front doors. Each step echoed like a heartbeat. The maids rushed to me to greet me, but I ignored them. “Butler Zhou is back.” The maid said with a smile. I ignored her and rushed into the building. Butler Zhou stood by the door and bowed to greet me. “Young Master, you asked for me,” he said.

Callan yelled as he climbed the large staircase that seemed to go on forever. I clutched my purse as if it could provide me some solace. I quickly moved towards the stairs. By the time we reached the top my legs were screaming in protest. There was no way I would be able to get used to those. Every staff member we passed wore the same black and white butler’s uniform and kept their gaze facing the floor in respect as their Alpha walked by. After several more agonizing minutes of walking, Callan stopped in front of a door before opening it. He held the door open and motioned for me to walk in.

Mr. Blackwood requests your presence.” Thea stiffened, looking over her shoulder. “Tell him I’m not hungry.” Butler John, as ever, remained serene. “Madam, I’m afraid he insisted.” Thea’s stomach tightened. Of course he did. Seth Blackwood didn’t take no for an answer, not even about breakfast. “I’ll come later,” she tried again, but Butler John only inclined his head, his calm persistence leaving no room for negotiation.

Snow dusted the shoulders of his black coat.

Blake parked his car in front of the large front doors of the home, and the three women exited the vehicle. Making their way up the steps, Blake was about to knock on the door with the rather enormous knockers when the door was opened from the inside, causing it to squeak. There standing was a rather tall pale man in a butler’s outfit. Blake looked on and recalled an old sitcom where a family of unusual tastes came into mind. “Please, enter the Madam will be with you shortly.” The butler said with a cracked voice. “Thank you, Lurch.” Blake chuckled as the man didn’t even respond to the reference.
