I stare at my hands as they transform into my wolf claws, without me having to shift entirely into my wolf form.

Cold wind blew sweeping all the ashes away. The demon cried screaming. She regrew her hands by reducing her necks’ lengths. She outstretched her fingers forming them into long and sharp claws. She clawed in the air unleashing multiple black curves in succession. Grip leaped over her head spinning and landed on the ground standing behind her. He dodged her counterattack with just one jump. The concrete wall that the black curves hit cracked and crumbled down the ground in pieces slamming my ass on the floor in shock.

Not only that but there were claw marks flashing across his chest, turning red and angry. “Shit!” I gasped, looking at my hands--- and gaped, when I saw claws sticking out of my fingertips. What. The. Hell?! Why was I growling claws? Nobody told me I could grow claws!

It had been green with grass before. Now, the grass was dead. Withered and rotted so completely that they were black, leaning sadly against the ground. I gasped in shock, and pulled my hands away. The grass remained dead. When I reached out a clawed finger and touched it, it crumbled to ash. "What the fuck," Barry whispered.

Her hand underwent a jagged, partial shift—nails exploding into five silver, razor-sharp wolf claws. "Damn it!" she shrieked. She brought the claws up, aiming straight for the pulse point on her own wrist. "Vivian!" Mortimer didn't have time to think. He lunged, his bare hand clamping over the lethal claws just as they swung down. The sound of metal-hard bone slicing through skin was a dull, wet thud. Deep, crimson blood sprayed across the floor, soaking the wolf-claws and dripping through Mortimer's fingers in heavy, rhythmic beats. It bloomed across the white carpet like a sick joke.

His hands have now turned black, and I can guess that it was a poison that I must avoid. With super speed, he charged at me, a guttural cry escaping from his lips. He slashed at me with his fingernail, which had now transformed into a long black poisonous claw, and I narrowly ducked in time. He spun back again and gashed at me. This time he was aiming for my throat in an attempt to grab it with his claw, and I quickly blocked it with my palm. He retreated his hand, doubled his attack, and slashed at me, this time with more ferocious speed while he was twisting his claw viciously, using it to aim for different angles.

And its hands with their two fingers and opposable thumb, all three digits tipped with barbed and serrated claws. The vampire lashed out at Maitreyah, and he backed away in utter terror, swinging wildly with Zaphan. The creature easily slipped the clumsy swings, and the sharp claws threatened to tear into him. Then Shakilah, snarling with fury and fear, charged into the fray, several hundred pounds of teeth and fur and social predatory instinct tackling into the monster from behind.

I wheezed, staggering back into the room when the Luna’s long claws shoved me back roughly, scratching painfully across my chest in the process.
