Her own teeth are sharp; her own hands, brutal. The second time the rogues breach the fence, Elena overtakes them before they reach the dens. Damon is at her side, laughing, covered in so much blood it runs pink along his cheekbones. The rogues snarl and gnash until they realize whose territory this is, and then something like fear stutters through their eyes. No one had ever told them what kind of monsters Black Claw could raise.

It wasn’t done. He could feel his bones moving—shifting. They weren’t breaking clean; they were reshaping. Bending where no bone should ever bend, dragging against muscle, splitting sinew as they forced themselves into new shapes. His hands curled into fists. His fingers—no, his nails—split open, nails lengthening into something sharp, black, and deadly. The tips exploded outward, spraying blood and dirt. He looked down through blurred vision, watching his hands become claws. His chest heaved. His back arched. He ripped at his clothes, every fiber of instinct screaming to be free. His shirt tore easily under his new claws, the fabric sticking to the blood slicking his skin.

I state matter-of-factly. Eric's legs lie at awkward angles in front of him. This will not only stop him from ruining his articulations but also keep him still while he changes because the human part of him will always strain him from moving. Eric's hands start moving, clenching and unclenching, making space for the claws to appear. One by one, the black claws form on his bent fingers, eliciting a cry from Eric. He whimpers as his teeth slowly elongate, unable to stop, losing control of his own body. His head rocks back and forth on the floor, notwithstanding the pressure.

He looked down at me and Devon, his eyes glinting purple from under the moonlight like he had found a treasure in a very unexpected place. “What are you two little bunnies doing here?” The Black Claw hissed as his grin turned into a dreadful smile that made me and my brother tremble in fear. My mind was filled with fear, and I couldn’t think of anything but to scream for Dad to save us. I screamed at the top of my lungs, and the next thing I saw was when the Black Claw flew and hit a tree with its back. At first, I thought the impact killed the Black Claw, but when Dad turned his back on him, he stood so fast and slashed Dad’s back with his giant claws.

*Lyra* The hall reeks of blood and traces of wolfsbane smoke. My claws ache, every muscle trembling from the strain, and my lungs burn with every ragged breath I pull in. The stone floor is slick beneath my paws, streaked with blood and clumps of torn fur. The coppery tang of it clings to the air.

And his earlier warning had only added to my fears. But I nodded in spite of those fears, only for him to offer what was close to a smile. With his cold blue eyes watching me closely, there was a sudden movement of his hand, and my gaze fell to his hands. His claws had elongated from his fingertips, a skill we possess due to our wolves. And Alpha Carter used one of his claws to flick sharply across his wrist, puncturing the skin there, causing blood to seep from his arm.

Her fingers twisted and elongated into vicious, black claws. It wasn’t a woman. It was one of those disorted Lycan. With a shriek that tore the silence to shreds, it launched itself at him.
