He answered cautiously. “Who is this?” A familiar voice chuckled on the other end. “An old friend.” Enzo stiffened. “I don’t have any of those.” The voice sighed. “Come on, Blackwood. No need for hostility. I just wanted to congratulate you on your success.” Enzo’s grip on the phone tightened. “Cut the crap. What do you want?”

Through them strode a silhouette long thought lost; Selene Blackthorn, the former Luna, reborn as something darker. Her blood-flecked hair, storm-gray eyes blazing anew, she walked with predatory grace. Her armor, once silver and gentle, had been reforged in shadows, leather scorched, runes of midnight black etched along her arms.

I stumbled, the world blurring into static. Through the fog, four large figures emerged. Clad in black military gear, faces masked. Armed. One of them stepped forward. “Welcome to Nightbane, Royal bastard,” he said, raising the butt of his gun. Crack. Everything went black.
