It was almost as if it was a time line as we walked down the hall. I saw a sword. Many different people held the sword as we walked. Sometimes it was a person outlined in black light, which was strange to see black light. It was not like the UV purple light that they called black light in the clubs. This was inky dark light. Almost like paint, but reflected as light. My physics brain couldn't wrap itself around the concept, and yet here it was right in front of me.

Belle immediately shook her head. “Nah… it’s boring there.” She smiled sweetly. “I’ll just sit on the couch. Promise I won’t disturb anyone.” The receptionists chuckled as Belle happily waved at them before settling comfortably onto one of the couches in the lobby. A few moments later, she was already fully absorbed in playing a mobile game on her phone while waiting for Ethan. Then suddenly— A sleek black limousine stopped outside the entrance. Almost instantly, the atmosphere inside the lobby shifted. Belle looked up just in time to see Ethan stepping out of the vehicle.

The lights went off and the red, almost bloody light was turned on. The bidding is now starting. Time to kill another set of birds in one stone.

“Good evening, cherished members and guests of Elite San Antonio. Thank you for joining us tonight for Friday Night Bingo. We have some amazing prizes tonight, and we are eager to give them away. "Oh, it's just this new-age luncheon that's fashioned after dining in the dark. You know, eating with your other senses heightened because your vision is impaired. It's slightly different because instead of eating in a dark space, you will be blindfolded and there will be someone feeding you." Arthur explained casually as he licked his lips in anticipation.

My heart beats as I unlock my phone and read the text. “*Tomorrow Hotel Nine 11 pm Speaking optional No lights RSVP yes/no.” I freeze; could this be him? Jonah takes us to a back office that leads to another back office that opens up to a storage room with a very scary catwalk staircase up to the moment floor. I’m pretty sure we’re about to be killed when Jonah ushers us up it and through a beaded curtain, into a room lit up with black light. The floor is painted black, with sigils and symbols in glowing phosphorescent colors. There are bean bag chairs scattered around the perimeter of the room and an impressively tall hookah in one corner. Shelves hold jars of herbs and dirt and murky liquids I want nothing to do with.
