The heartbeat filled the room in a steady rhythm—strong, sure, and so fast it made mine slow down just listening to it.
“There he is,” Adam said quietly. “Still throwing a dance party in there.”
“He’s training for the Olympics,” I muttered. “Specifically, bladder trampoline.”
Adam chuckled and wiped the gel off with practiced ease, then reached for the tape measure.
“Your fundal height is measuring right on track,” he murmured, more to himself than me. “And no excessive swelling, no protein in the urine… everything’s looking good.”
