There was something familiar about his face. He offered a hand. “Adrian Blake.” The name hit me like a bell. One of the most respected investors in the country. Ruthless, brilliant, unpredictable.

I asked not looking up from the clay knight in my hands. “I hope he said some pretty nasty things to you cause you deserved it.” I quickly looked up surprised at the voice that was not Anderson’s. Blake looked haggard, sexy, but haggard. His eyes had bags underneath them like he didn’t get a proper night’s sleep and his black long hair was all tousled and pointing every which way. Only Blake Lindell can make looking disheveled look so sexy.

Meanwhile, both Lena and Aunt Mercedes gasped audibly. This was more than any of them had expected. I followed him to the ends of the world and back, and he never once questioned the mental wards I have in place. But I assume he knows I’m not just another run-of-the-mill knight–another worthless kid plucked from the forested depths of the Roguelands. “Take off your armor and have some dinner,” Blake says sternly and claps me on the shoulder as he passes me, disappearing into the living room, his steps fading into the lively chatter beyond the kitchen walls.

“Well, I see that you gained your Father’s vision, not so up in a society that a little thing as apologizing is beneath you. Good, good.” Blake said, not showing any emotion, but then his attention went to the screen of the game that Sister Song was playing. “She’s reached the battle with the Black Knight.”
