I muttered, trying to step around him, Unable to stay and keep staring at him. But he stepped out, enough to block my path and stop me from moving. Letting out a soft breath, I raised my eyes to look at his, and it still hasn't changed into anything smugh or teasing. He just stared at me with this very blank look and hooded eyes. It was like he was planning my murder while standing right in front of me. “What do you want?” I finally built up the courage to ask since he was there and staring like we were in a staring competition.

“So what now? Are you just going to keep staring?” His eyes darkened, and then—

“That man’s staring continuously. Like, continuously. He hasn’t blinked since you sat down.” The moment those words left her lips, my stomach flipped. “Don’t look,” I muttered, but of course I looked. Those grey eyes were still locked on me. Mesmerizing. Storm-cloud grey. Cold and hot at the same time. I clenched my eyes shut and shook my head hard, trying to shake the image out of my brain. Nope. Still there when I opened them. Without thinking, I grabbed my drink and chugged it down my throat, burning it with the sensation. Then the next one. Then Stella’s untouched shot.

The people started to clap, some started to shed tears and some looked quite emotional. As my eyes scan the large emotional crowd before me, my gaze landed on a group of people who stared coldly at me with a woman in their center. Not knowing why they were staring at me like that and not in the slightest bit concerned and affected by it, I smirked discreetly at them, enjoying the way their facial expressions morphed into shock at my blatant disregard and brashness towards them.

It was not a display of anger. At this millisecond, his face resembled a monument carved of ancient, dead stone. There was no theatrical rage, no shattering of furniture, no loss of composure. He simply stared down at the parameters of the text, his deep grey eyes completely clear and devoid of mist. He was too quiet.

His face was unreadable, calm as ever, but somehow, that just made him even more… devastating. I was staring. And I knew I was staring. But my eyes wouldn’t cooperate. They were glued to him like they had nowhere else to be. Like they didn’t care that this was technically inappropriate. Like they didn’t care that he was blind and probably had no clue— “Don’t tell me you’re staring at me,” his voice broke through the haze—low, amused, and sharp. “I know I can’t see… but it’s obvious you’re boring holes into my body.”
