Anise disappeared from sight after sending Miranda a final reassuring nod. Asher looked over at Miranda. He tried to glare her way as he sized her suspiciously, before he headed to the bathroom without a word. He closed the door behind him and turned on the faucet. Asher washed his hands, and the water burned his cuts. He gathered water in his palms and splashed them on his face, then over his head and down his naked neck. Asher removed his shirt and washed cool water over his skin again.
