"In my office." Nodding, I begin to move, making my way out of the morgue and towards the far end of the packhouse, where the big brute’s office is located. Once inside, I fix my gaze on the large map that is plastered against his wall and search for the area where I sense our enemy. "Here," I announce, pointing to a place near the Glacies Mountains. "This is where we need to go." "There?" The big brute asks, furrowing his brows. "But that space is supposed to be uninhabitable due to its extreme conditions; how could they possibly be there?"

I watched the treeline blur past. "Where are we going?" Kaelen asked after an hour. "The map had a final location," I said. "The Source. It is north. Past the border. Into the dead zone." "There is nothing there," Kaelen said. "Only ice and ghosts." "Then that is where we will find them," I said. A sound came from the back seat. Gurgle. It wasn't a happy sound. It was a wet demanding noise. I turned around.

Chapter 15: Blood and Bone. Backy's POV TWO HOURS LATER Jimmy drove while Candy pressed her fingers to a map on her lap. Cassy sat beside me, frowning as she reviewed the coordinates etched in blood. “It’s not far,” Candy said. “It’s in the northwest sector. Near the old burial grounds.” My stomach dropped. “That’s Haunter’s ancestral territory.” Jimmy whistled low. “Guess someone wants to make it personal.”

"It's buried three hundred feet below the bedrock," Kara said, pulling up a secondary map. "The only physical access node on our side of the river is located beneath the ruins of the Old Water Treatment Plant. Two miles east of here." "I know the place," Torque rasped. "It's a death trap. Feral ghouls—junkies who went crazy from drinking unfiltered Sump water—roam those ruins. And if it's a Ministry access point, it'll have automated internal defenses."

My stomach dropped before he spoke. “There was a map in the glove box,” Ben said. “Half burned, but readable enough.” Colton’s voice went very quiet. “Of what?” Ben’s eyes moved to the forest surrounding us. “Moonbrook,” he said. “Grace’s cottage was marked. Nora’s house was marked.” A coldness opened beneath my ribs. Emily’s gaze hardened. “And the north border of Grimfang land,” she finished. “They know roughly where we are.”

Xander POV We had sprawled a map on the centre of the table, and Silas and I were looking at routes Osprey could take. Silas pressed his finger on a plain between the Red Mountains and Maple. It was in the farming district of White Birch, which separated us from them.

I exclaimed, pushing the map away from me. “Serena.” Lucas called softly, and we saw that the map was beginning to fill up with descriptions written in my blood. “Sacrifice. It meant blood.” I whispered. We began to see the map of the whole place. Far more dangerous paths laid before us, and we were currently at the hag village.“How do we get to the pure forest with all these in the way?”

A few lanterns hang overhead, their dim light flickering over the inked lines and notes scribbled from previous attacks. But those are done. The next one begins now. I drag my finger along the northern ridge of the map, the same path our scouts reported last week already. The Silvercrest Range. Smaller. Less guarded. Perfect. I pull a few new markers from the small wooden box on the table and start arranging them. Blue for patrol routes. Red for vulnerabilities. Black for entry points. One by one, they click against the wood surface as I place them. Rhys enters without knocking. He never knocks.

He knows what kind of ruler he is. I slowly walk away from the wall and approach the maps. “There's a second site north of Blue Moon land, two days into winter landscape.” My finger rests on a narrow section of the mountain where the upper boundary is. “An old military storage area located during the period of border conflict. Kael gives a haughty look. “This place was deserted.” “Officially,” I say. The room grows more silent. I can hear the network calling through the wolves around me. Consciousness flows under the mountain in soft, concentrated waves.

The fight. Still breathing. Still burning. And above us, the sky no longer trembled. It waited. Just like we did. Ready for whatever came next. Bianca held the scroll out. I unrolled it. A map. Three red marks. One in the south ridge, one near the Whispering River, and one…..faint, newer…..closer than either of us would’ve liked. “They’re testing every edge,” she said. “Looking for weak seams in the bond.”
