She walked over to the table, standing close enough to his side that the heat radiating from his bare chest cut through the morning chill of the room. The map was intricate, detailed with charcoal and red ink. It showed the entire geographical layout of the region. To the south lay the vast, wealthy, but heavily fortified lands of the Nightshade Pack—her old home. To the north and west lay the jagged, treacherous cliffs of the feral borders, labeled with small, hand-drawn markers representing hidden outposts, watchtowers, and underground supply lines. Klaus tapped his finger on a massive red circle located deep within the Nightshade territory.

“I understand the meaning of loss in all your hearts. We will avenge the ten thousand werewolves who died at Gabriel's hands. And we must make sure that the cursed man feels the agony before he dies.” I grabbed a wooden stick and began marking the enormous map on the table in front of me.
