I am immortal now!” The car didn’t shake under the storm since Asphalt was holding it in place with his powers. Fire climbed the horizon where Aurelia and Damien clashed with Draco, their silhouettes like gods against the burning sky. I lifted Dalton, still bleeding, and howled to the warriors nearby. “MEDICS! NOW!” They carried him away. I stood over Bashar’s corpse, blood dripping from my claws, my heart pounding like war drums. “Draco,” I growled, turning toward the center of the battlefield. “I’m coming.”

Flames roar up, bright and hungry. Bodies vanish behind heat and fire. Turning away feels impossible. “I have a pathologist ready,” Abel says softly. “He will swear that body down there is yours. The chopped pieces, I mean. Diego becomes Diablo. You walk free. Poetic.”
