The parchment caught fire, curling inward like a dying heart.

Her words rippled through the room. Luna stepped forward, a new scroll in hand blank, except for the first line written in her own careful script:
‘The Bloodline Begins Anew.’
Bianca smiled faintly and nodded. “Then let it begin with you.”
She reached into the fire and pressed her palm briefly into the heat. The girls gasped but when Bianca drew her hand back, there was no wound. Only a faint shimmer of silver light beneath her skin.
