I pushed it open, freezing in my tracks. “Azura?!” Leo called, but I couldn’t reply, the sight before me making my stomach sink. The tap was running into a bath that was overfull already, but what sent a chill down my spine, was the hand that hung out of the bath. The coppery smell of blood hit my nose as I approached the bath that was coloured pinky-red. A faint heartbeat could be heard, but it was so quiet… “Kareena?” I called, as I stopped at the bath and stared down into the bloody water, my eyes widening in horror.

When the bedroom door opened, immediately the sweet smell of flowers, which spread across the floor of the room stung Liam's sense of smell. But apart from the sweet smell of the flowers, there was another smell that was much stronger. Blood. Yes. This room was filled with the strong smell of blood. And as if Liam had already predicted what he would see, he didn't even flinch at the sight that was presented before his eyes. There, on Elena's bed, was a young man lying limply with blood oozing from the open wound in his neck. His naked body indicated what had actually happened between them before the young man died.

"Clean the filth off." I stride into the bathroom. It is a dark, oppressive space, tiled in midnight purple and black granite. The shower enclosure is massive, built for a Lycan king, easily large enough for four people. I strip my clothes off, letting the heavy fabric drop to the floor in a heap. My hand shakes as I reach for the brass tap. I intend to turn on the cold water to shock my system, to freeze out the dark thoughts, but my fingers twist the hot tap instead. I need heat. I need to burn this freezing sensation out of my veins.

Fresh and still wet. "Come on." I grabbed his arm, pulling him towards the nearest bathroom. He followed without resistance, which scared me more than the blood did. Matteo was never this compliant, never this quiet. The bathroom was large, all white marble and gold fixtures. I turned on the tap, testing the temperature before guiding his hands under the stream. The water ran red immediately, swirling down the drain. "What happened?" I kept my voice gentle as I rubbed soap into his palms, working the blood out from under his nails. "Matteo, talk to me."

When they went to the second floor, Adira set the light to the right and saw an opened door. They had reached the bathroom. “A bathroom,” Adira murmured as she walked inside. Chadwick followed her while breathing so hard. Looking around, they saw a single window that was mildly dirty, and a flood of light flowed into the room. The medicine cabinet mirror lay shattered in pieces on the floor tile. The empty medicine bottle lay revealed the discoloration of the water, a brownish concoction. Approaching the bathtub, a violent odor made it way to their noses. Chadwick and Adira pinched their noses.

she snapped, “I need to get back the shop before the boss has my head. Is this about the Bloody Barbies again?” Bloody Barbie was the nickname Maria gave to the murders ever since she’d gotten involved as a suspect. It was an apt name. Each crime scene that had been investigated was painted red with each victim’s blood, and in each one there would be a bloody doll left behind (though, not exactly a Barbie), no less than three feet away from the body.

I felt self conscious, wondering if they could possibly smell me being a rogue. I held my breath as I tried to get into the bathroom, thankfully no one paid any sort of special attention to me. I opened one of the bathroom stalls and was welcomed by a loud scream. A naked brunette, holding a shower head staring blankly at me. "What the fuck? You never heard of knocking? Have you lost your fucking mind?" With widened eyes, I spun on my heels, "oh goddess, I'm sorry, I didn't think anyone would be using these bathrooms." Why the fuck would they not just get clean in their homes?

"I think Annie's aunt was a whore," I tell James when I finally see the bathroom. The entire space was probably bigger than my childhood bedroom, the walls were made with white marble with gold accents, the floor was a dark hardwood, a giant clawfoot tub sits off to one side putting the shower directly in the middle of the room. Floor to ceiling glass in the shape of a tube sits directly in the middle of the room, a bench runs around half of the inside with two showerheads at opposite sides and a little shower table sits next to the bench with bottles and soaps on it.

He grabs my hand and tugs me toward the bathroom. The bathroom is mostly white tile and black marble, with a huge glassdoored shower that’s definitely big enough for both of us. Julian walks over and locks the door that connects to the other bedroom. He stops at the shower to turn on the water, then prowls toward me with a heated look on his face.

The flesh and blood on them clogged the plughole, dangling from the segments. The open linen cupboard beside the sink was a mess of fallen towels and sheets. A large bucket filled with water had been placed in front of it to soak the multitude of bloodied clothing crammed inside. The bath was the cleanest thing in the room. It was built into the ground and surrounded by various lotions. It even had a bloodied pair of scissors sitting on the edge. “Don’t mind the mess” Trauma spoke, as he took the scissors and turned on the bloodied bath levers “when you are clean, don’t forget to wipe the bath down. I still have a few people who need to use it.”
