Edgar’s eyes darkened, the hunger within them unmistakable. "My apologies, Miss Cammy," he said, voice rough, almost hoarse. "Your scent is... exquisite. It seems I have momentarily forgotten my manners." The intense hunger in his eyes scared me. It wasn't hunger for food. As starved as he was, part wolf and part vampire, I would not appeal to him in that way. The hunger was a lust so unconcealed,m that I took a step back. I shouldn't be here. I should be home, with my mate. The moving shadows over his face made him appear nearly deathly and guilt at his starved state twisted my gut.
