I was sure of it. I had lots of questions, but with the way he kept acting oblivious, I wasn't sure if I should ask. I realized I'd been holding eye contact with him for an uncomfortable amount of time and awkwardly turned away. My gaze shifted to Xlynor. He was leaned back, eyes fixed on the arena and his expression closed and unreadable. My eyes accidentally drifted down to his hand on the armrest, and then I saw it. Black veins visible through his skin, running along his fingers and stretching up into his arm like roots.

I staggered backward, clutching my chest, trying to steady myself, but the air around me seemed to thrum with a strange rhythm that matched the pounding of my heart. At first, I thought it was only dizziness, the consequence of being pushed too hard. But then I saw it, faint trails of light racing beneath my skin. My veins, glowing softly like molten threads, lit up in places where my pulse struck hardest. I gasped and stumbled again, staring at my hands, horrified by the way my body no longer looked entirely mine. It was as if something ancient and violent was carving its way out of me.

The same situation occurred with Bjorn’s feet and as the snaky blue veins dotted the ceiling like the branches of a tree, the small platform in front of Mel glowed a soft ashen colour, shifting the shimmering blue to a light grey. The hairs on her skin stood on end and her feet tingled as though there was a pleasant static in the air. Something prompted Mel to inspect her hands and when she brought them to her face, her lips parted open at the way her veins glowed blue. Within a few seconds, the soft colours faded, returning the partitioned chamber back to its previous state.

The brother was quick to notice that the small cut didn’t heal up and instead had a black ink printed on it. “Wait what’s going on?” The brother quickly pulled away from Lisa to properly observe his arms, only to see a vein, black vein rapidly forming from the area and spreading out to his body. The eldest one who saw what was happening to his little brother checked himself and saw the same happening to him. In matter of seconds, the veins had spread out and has nearly covered them whole . “What’s going on?” Lisa cried out when she saw the state of her brothers. She instantly ran away, I assumed it was to go get help.

His pupils were dilated, the whites of his eyes were covered with blue veins, his blue irises were surrounded by blood redlining that was slowly eating the blues of his eyes. At this time I was shaking with fear. My hands were trembling uncontrollably as my legs went numb. I didn't realize that I was breathing heavily. I could feel his rage and anger, the vexation I provided him. My eyes darted from his face and fell on his arm slowly afraid of what I might say, that was pinning me against the wall. Oh god! The veins of his arms were darker than blue, one could easily mistake it for black. They were spread throughout his arms like roots.

I didn't know what I did to make him so angry. The veins on his arms began to slightly protrude. They were dark blue and they swiftly sprouted out like roots from a tree. This blue was so dark that it was almost black. Things escalates further as the temperature began to rise really fast. The room was beginning to heat up even though it was night time and my fear was increasing but I didn't know what possessed me to do what I did next. I lifted my teary eyes and dared to look at his face. The whites of his eyes turned pitch black and the dark blue veins spread throughout his face and neck.

Why…just why…did I forget that I am not supposed to forget anything? It was my fault. The tips of my fingers tingle. The surge of strange energy pulses under my skin. As I look down at my arms, I find my veins glowing blue. Instead of getting surprised, I find myself staring at them until the color becomes brighter.

Then it pulsed. Thin lines branching outward from a central point beneath her flesh. Veins of shadow spreads slowly, faintly glowing red beneath her skin. That had not been there before. I stepped closer. “What is that?” I demanded. The doctor barely glanced at it. “Subdermal hemorrhaging. Possibly a vascular reaction to trauma.” “It was not there,” I said sharply. He leaned closer this time, frowning. One of the nurses angled a brighter light toward her arm. The dark marking reacted, It shifted. Spreading slightly higher.
