I knew she was here. It was now beyond her scent. I could feel it. I could taste it on my lips. Mine. I crushed the thought before it could fully form. Annie sat across the room with Balor, in the obvious and noticeable part of the pub. But that wasn’t Annie. She hated being the center of attention. There was no way on earth Balor could know that. She was in a blue dress – the one I’d gotten for her on her last birthday. It slipped off one shoulder, her ginger curls falling down her back and framing her face. She looked like a wild flower. The only problem was that I didn’t think she knew that. Annie looked too young to be here, too beautiful to be let out.

“What would you order?” Suddenly, Blue averted her gaze. Pressed on regardless. “I’d order two coffees and a cheese and tomato sandwich—a mocha have-here and a takeaway long black,” Blue took pause. As she did, she scanned the crowd of those who had since begun to queue. Wondered how many suffered the same silent fate as she. Somehow, felt no sympathy for those who did. There were worse fates, she was rather aware. Yet her self-sympathy somehow lingered. “The mocha and sandwich would keep me full until lunch. I’d save the black for mid-afternoon when I get hungry again,”

Anything. I slip into the short knee length dress that Mia handed me. It's short but breathable . It's emerald in colour and looks so good against my tan skin. I turn to see Mia in a similar dress as mine , but it has a deeper neckline and is black in colour . She also has some jewellery paired with it. We both give each other compliments and wear our footwear. I opt for smaller heels than her but she wears stilettos with much higher heel. I pull my hair in a ponytail and apply a light nude lip shade.

Asher POV "Here, have a muffin," Aaron placed it on my plate after seeing me eye it longingly. Years of having nothing but leftovers and mouldy food made this breakfast seem like a luxury to me, and one of my favourite foods was blueberry muffins. I nibbled on it, and my eyes lit up as Aaron looked at me indulgently. "So good," I moaned. Aaron stiffened and then slowly relaxed as I looked at him concerned. He put a second muffin on my plate, and I giggled at him.

It was such a small thing, a ridiculous thing, and yet it made my throat tight. "Thank you, Derek." "You're welcome. Now eat it before Michael gets here and steals it. He has no respect for named pastries." Michael wheeled past right on cue, spotted the tray, and immediately changed course. "Are those new? What are they? Can I have one?" "They're lemon blueberry, and yes, but that specific one is named the Adeline and it's not for you." Derek pointed at my muffin like it was a protected artifact. "You named a muffin after Adeline? That's sweet. Can I have a muffin named after me?"

Nezeira listened to it and said, "So what do we need at the moment?" Euphenia's eyes narrowed a bit and she said, "The Bracelet with the blue sapphire is what holds the key to stop all these." Nezeira, "The bracelet is at Illusontis so all we need is the sapphire." Euphenia, "Yes our priority should be finding the sapphire. Once it is bound with the bracelet it can be used to destroy the Beasts." Nezeira, "Alright then let's get to work."

“Here you go,” Jubilee said as she handed the Americano and blueberry muffin to a woman not much younger than her. “Is that all?” “I haven’t had a muffin in six months.” The girl inhaled the scent of sugar and blueberries and moaned aloud. “I’m tempted to buy all of them and eat them in one go.” Jubilee laughed. “Maybe just start with one. Although our pumpkin spice muffin is really good, too.”

Her easy smile looks a lot like Adrian’s. “Hi. What can I getcha?” I smiled at her bored tone. She is definitely related to my handyman. “Hi. Can I get a medium vanilla latte and a blueberry muffin?” “Out of blueberry. We got cranberry and banana left,” she mutters, tapping on her register screen. “Banana then,” I raised my eyebrows at her, expecting her to argue or roll her eyes. Instead, she offers me a small smile, “$8.76.”

Come sit," I say, and she obeys. I lift the lid of the platter, the delicious aroma of honeysuckle pancakes filling the place. Her eyes become teary. Good Lord, this wife of mine. I lean down and drop a kiss on her cheeks. "Don't you dare start crying, woman." She shoves me away and giggles. "I don't want to cry." "Yeah, sure you don't, honey," I sass, making her snort again. "Oh my, are those muffins?!" she squeals, her eyes pinging between mine and the muffins. "Blueberry muffins, to be exact." I flash a smile, hearing my own cockiness. I had been perfecting Coco's delectable blueberry muffins recipe for the past week, and now I'm certain that I'm a pro… hopefully.
