Veil asked, wiping her hands on a napkin. I glanced at the meal prep chart I had made and guided her through it. "Should I throw in a couple of blueberry muffins for you?" she teased with a warm smile. "Yes, please," I chuckled. Mrs. Veil is the sweetest. She knows I have a weakness for her blueberry muffins, especially after sex. Ryan sucks all my energy out of me in the best possible way, and these muffins are the best snacks to regain that energy. Though I would never tell her the reason I eat these muffins. Some things are better left unsaid.

We make our way over to the muffin display, where Henson is already waiting, his oversized glasses perched on his nose and a smug look on his face. I can practically feel the eye roll coming on as he starts babbling about the nutritional benefits of blueberries. "Interesting facts" I mutter under my breath, grabbing a chocolate chip muffin and ignoring his ramblings. As we sit down at a table, Henson launches into a diatribe about the history of muffins, completely oblivious to the fact that I'm losing my mind. I can't help but snort with laughter as he launches into a detailed analysis of the muffin's crumb structure.

Seeing his tears like that reminded me so much about Bluey. Flashback I was in my room, pacing back and forth, thinking about how to present the gift I bought for Bluey. It was her 17th birthday today, and I promised to celebrate it for her, but she insisted it should just be me and her in a special place. She suggested it should be natural, and I had planned everything.

He asked, making dad roll his eyes dramatically. “Pretty sure she was worse” he said, making me glare at him. “Where are you, I have blueberry muffins” Damien linked back, making drop my hands back to my sides at the mention of blueberries. “Library” I said, unable to hide my excitement. I went from going gaga for chocolate chip everything to going gaga for blueberry everything! Damien walked in a few moments later with a small tray of muffins and sweet tea, and my heart almost melted and I forgot about the two men threatening my taste buds.
