My feet moved of their own accord, propelling me away from the scene, away from the suffocating air of the supermarket.
I didn't look back as I dashed through the sliding doors, the cool outside air a sharp contrast to the warm tears streaming down my face. My breath came in bursts as the distance between me and the supermarket grew, the echo of my footsteps a frantic rhythm against the pavement. I ran, seeking refuge from the piercing reality of what I had just witnessed, leaving behind the sound of my name hanging in the air, unclaimed and unanswered.
