The Bride I Used to Be
Bliss staggered back, her chair scraping loudly against the floor.
The tears in the mirror continued to fall. The reflection’s lips moved faintly, shaping words without sound. Bliss leaned forward again, desperate to understand. Her reflection mouthed a single word, again and again, her face etched with sorrow.
“Run.”
Bliss’s hands trembled against the edge of the vanity. She wanted to cry out, to demand answers, but her throat gave her nothing. She reached forward, touching the cool glass with her fingertips. The reflection did not match her movement. Instead, it reached up as though to grab her hand, pressing against the other side of the glass.
