The thought I had tried to banish came into my mind again, unbidden. I noticed she had stopped talking and was staring at me with a frightened look on her face. She was blushing. It was becoming I couldn’t lie, just as I couldn’t stop the indecent thoughts that coursed through my mind. “We aren’t on the first floor yet?” she asked. “Soon,” was all I said, knowing just how creepy I could come across as. I just wanted to know how she would react to that. She swallowed, and the movement of her delicate throat was some kind of strange fascination. I couldn’t explain it.

The most beautiful smell of honey and peaches invading all of my senses. Gripping me in every way Mate! Mate! Get mate! I felt my eyes shifting darker, I could smell her, and when I looked further up the staircase I could see her. My little mate. Blossom's POV "Come on we'll be late!" Quinn practically screamed at me "Why do you even care? You already have a mate... what are you getting out of tonight?" I asked as I pinned my hair up in the mirror. She was sat on the bed, putting her blue heels on, her white dress flowing over the edge of the covers.

(Olandria’s POV) The question stayed there. Not in the air… but somewhere deeper. It was like it had settled under my skin instead of just hanging between us. What should the rabbit do? I stared at the canvas, but I wasn’t seeing it clearly anymore. The colors had started to shift from chaos into something almost… intentional. Dark blues bleeding into muted reds, streaks of orange cutting through like something trying and failing to break free. It wasn’t something I could name, but it felt like something pulled in two directions and refused to tear.

The butterflies were me, and I was them, glowing softly against his body. Shade stilled, staring at the butterflies with awe. His wolf didn’t growl, didn’t snap. He only lowered his head, letting the blue-silvery butterflies sit on him, fluttering their wings. A deep purr rumbled from his chest. The blue butterflies lifted from him, spun together again, and converged into something I never thought would happen.

In front of her was the field of flowers of different colors and sizes. After a while, a black butterfly flew from its hiding place at the back of roses. As the butterfly approached her, she lifted her right hand. The insect landed on her fingers. “What did you all get for me this time?” she asked the butterfly. To anyone who could witness what she was doing, they might think she had gone insane. But it wasn’t the case she was like that. She found a talent of her own when she was just a little girl. She could talk to animals, plants, and insects.

All of the smells were incredible, like a perfume garden coming to life. Then there was a flash of blue! A butterfly landed on a purple flower, its color similar to that of the summer sky. It opened its wings, revealing a variety of colors, including dark purple, bright blue, and a hint of yellow. It resembled a genuine jewel, a tiny bit of magic!

How is something so small so perfect? I carefully place my finger in front of it, gently nudging it, trying to coax it onto my finger. My smile turns as wide as Winter’s as the butterfly takes a tentative step onto my finger. It pulls back for a moment, as though it’s testing this new, unfamiliar territory. Then it’s on my hand, crawling slowly over my skin, each delicate step feeling like the flutter of eyelashes. I bring my hand up to inspect it. It really is a miracle. The more it crawls, the more it tickles. Must be why eyelashes on your skin are called butterfly kisses. They really feel like the flutter of butterfly wings and their tiny little feet.

I gawp, like an imbecile, so taken by the sight that my breath catches in my throat. “This is amazing!” she says, and it’s all I can do to nod. An emerald and black butterfly takes lazy flight in front of us, its wings big and shimmering with metallic beauty. Violet frantically thumbs through the spotter guide, but I still her with a squeeze of my hand on her shoulder. “Papilio blumei,” I told her. “Found only on the Indonesian island of Sulawesi. It’s a peacock, otherwise known as a green swallowtail.”

But there were still a lot more plants I couldn’t identify. I gasped, awestruck, gazing at the red butterfly. Its wings were as though made of thin slices of glowing red crystals with dark and gold patterns mixing gracefully with one another as it flapped its long-tailed wings. It was twice the size of a normal butterfly and a thousand times more beautiful and magical. The butterfly fluttered past the window glass. I waved at it excitedly, as though it would wave back at me. Unaware of how sheepishly I was smiling, I couldn’t take my eyes off it.

-Flashback- It was Alexander’s junior year and Franklin’s last year in high school. Alexander was so excited because, finally, he became classmates with his ultimate crush, Violet. When they arrived at the school, he was in an excellent mood. But his attitude quickly changed when Franklin walked towards Violet and kissed her lips. “Hey, babe.” Franklin sweetly greeted Violet.
