The absence of my presence these past few years had made me accustomed to compromising in front of Sophie and her family. Even when Julius replaced me in the family portrait, or when every New Year's dinner table was filled with dishes Julius liked, I endured it. I even comforted myself by telling myself that things weren't so bad if someone could stay by their side in my place. I thought that as long as the family was happy, nothing else mattered. But today, a single apple gave me a wake-up call. If they already saw me as an outsider, why was I still trying so hard to belong?

Her advisory board was made up of the most elite strategists in the business. She had invited me to be her partner more than once, telling me I possessed the two rarest qualities: an eye for beauty and a cool head. In the past, I had always let those foolish family loyalties hold me back, burying my own ambition again and again. Now, I wondered, what was I even holding on to? The family that never saved me a seat at the table? Or the so-called family that always treated me like an outsider? It wasn't until noon the next day that anyone at the Moretti manor noticed something was wrong.

Finally, I sighed and spoke again. “Now, what is so special about this Outer U commercial that I just had to see you in person instead of discussing it over the phone?” “Well, for one, you weren’t really answering your phone—” “Once I did answer my phone, Bob.” Bob grinned and rubbed the back of his head in well-practiced mock-sheepishness. “Actually, I didn’t really ask you out here to talk about any commercial…” “That’s it. I’m out of here.”

That action ended up making me feel embarrassed when I bumped into my next-door neighbor, Quentin. He's good-looking alright but he's also a manslut. He constantly makes it hard for me to sleep at night because the numerous women he brings over to his place moan so loud. I smiled at him as I enjoy always posing as a good neighbor, it causes living here less unbearable. "Hi, Shell." He grinned. Sheldon. My name is Sheldon. I always want to correct him but I let it pass this time. "I want to apologize for not being able to make it to your mom's funeral." He muttered.

This man was Sheldon, regarded by the people of Navia as a demon who killed without remorse. Sheldon had just returned from an inspection tour and now felt more at ease to find that no federation guards had been mobilized. He made his way to Mandy, squatted, and clutched Mandy by the lower jaw to forcefully turn her face toward him. Sheldon chuckled and said, “Ms. Mandy, you’ve become one of Southrive’s wealthiest at such a young age. You must hold quite the status, and you’re so pretty that I can’t bear to kill you!”

“Ok, a little bit funny. But really, can we talk about something other than Sarah and Jason?" “What do you want to talk about instead?” Cassie asks me. “How about how we get out of here?” “Oh, ladies, you are never getting out of here,” Shelly taunts as she walks in. Crap. WIthout our wolves and our heightened senses, we had no idea she had come back. My heart drops. “Did you have a good time while I was gone?” Shelly asks sarcastically. Cassie and I say nothing. “Fine. Be rude. I have someone I want to introduce to you anyway. Ladies, this is Bobby, my boyfriend.”

“Naturally, there’s no need anymore. I didn’t expect that you’d be so capable, Mr. Yarde. I’ve underestimated you.” Kayson said with a faint smile, “It’s fine. I didn’t even attend elementary school after all. Hence, I’m unworthy of the attention of a renowned international university’s postgraduate finance student indeed.” Sheldon appeared displeased and said, “Are you mocking me, Mr. Yarde?”

Mont asked, voice low but pointed. “You need to understand vot ve may be facing. If I am right,and I hope dat I am not, ve are no longer alone in zis house.” Nobody interrupted him. Maybe we were all just too tired to argue, or maybe we could all sense that the thing upstairs wasn’t going to wait long. Dr. Schnell began. “His name vas Bob. Not Robert. Bob. I suppose given time their colors would possibly show but until then I will attempt to believe that this Cyrus guy was decent.
