As we were driving back to the base, I saw lightning flash. Yep, a storm was definitely happening. Then came the thunder. I jumped. Damnit. Why am I scared of loud booms? I can handle guns, no problem, but thunder, freaks me out. Same with fireworks. They scare the hell out of me. Ever since I was little. The rain started pouring down as we were on the interstate heading towards base. We weren’t far from base. 30 minutes, tops, with no traffic. The sky got darker, and I was trying to not freak out from the thunder. Katie pulled up to base, and showed her ID, and my ID to the security guards on duty. The nodded and we proceeded onto base. I felt bad, they had to be out in the storm.

Distant rumbles of thunder echo through the room as raindrops begin to patter against the window, gradually intensifying into a downpour. Startled by the sudden change in weather, I hastily make my way to my room, the sound of the rain pounding against the roof. The thunder grows louder, shaking the house with its powerful booms.
