"That I do think about it? That I wonder what could have been if things were different?"
My breath caught.
Damon took a step toward me again, but this time, his movements were slower, more deliberate. His fingers brushed against my jaw, tilting my face up to his.
"But things aren't different," he murmured. "And right now, we don't have time to figure it out."
The words were true, but they still stung.
Because no matter what I wanted, no matter what he wanted, the bond was demanding its price.
