Closing the door behind, I inched to the bed and occupied the empty spot beside her. I lay on the bed with my body facing her, observing every inch of her face that I missed for the last few days. Every second I kept battling with myself to meet her and talk to her but the promise and the reminder from the doctor always echoed in my head, chanting every single sentence like a curse. “How long we need to stay like this?” I asked, just in case she will answer me in her dream. Maybe we can talk nicely in the dream without any conflicts. “Nine months, that is it,” I muttered in a low tone, reminded myself not to act impulsively during this period. I don’t want to put their health at risk.

She replied and Damien nodded. “So now that it is all settled, you can go to bed.” “Okay.” She replied and stood up, she walked up the stairs and kept staring at the ring. “Did it work?” Damien heard his friend, Clyde ask as he walked into the living room. “Yes, I finally got her to agree to it.” “Ninety days is a really long time dude, you think you can handle it?” “I should be able to, after all, it's to my advantage, you can't see all that and not want to spend up to ninety days with her.” He replied and fell back on the couch.

Initially, we had a little over another month and a half left, but now that has dropped to three weeks. If something else changed, we could possibly have even less time.

Two weeks. She can hold onto two weeks. She already is.

“Judging from the time I was bitten till now, I'm not sure if I have more than two weeks” Eleanor’s face went pale, her hand tightening around the book she held. “Two weeks?” she whispered, as if saying it louder might make it more real. I nodded slowly. “Maybe less.”

What if I forget you forever, and not just for 21 days? What if it hurts my wolf?" Dylan's finger froze, but he only remained silent for a moment before pulling out the stopper of the tube firmly. There was a soft sound, and the potion glowed a faint blue.

"She doesn't waste time when she's decided something." "No," she said. "She doesn't." He looked at the library. The books. The fire that hadn't been lit since April and would be lit again in October. The leather bookmark on the table beside her current book. "She's going to be here for eighteen months," he said. "Yes," she said. "That's a long time," he said. "It is," she said. He held her gaze. "That feels like the right amount of time," he said. "For the subsequent conversation."

Elder Maeve said from her position in front of the desk. "I understand your concerns, Maeve. But I know exactly what I'm doing," I replied. She sighed. "Your thirtieth birthday is in twelve months. You might think there is plenty of time. But that's not true. She will have to carry your pup for at least seven months." "Quiet," I hissed. "I'm trying to read." She mumbled an apology, and I released a sigh, tracing my fingers along the page of the book on my desk. I'd asked Nigel to help me get a book with details about body language and emotions. It was written in braille. Elder Maeve didn't know that, though.
