Book Broken Pieces Novels & Stories

I squeezed my eyes shut and let a tear fall. "He's not going to die, I'm not going to let that happen." I repeated. "He's not going to die, I'm not going to let that happen." I breathed out. More bullets were being shot, and I immediately wiped my tears away in determination to get out. I took another deep breath and looked around analyzing the room. I squinted my eyes and noticed to door was slightly open. "How the fuck is it open Shawn slammed it shut?" I asked myself. I then remembered the door bouncing back open because of a piece of foam slightly sitting in between the doorframe preventing it from closing.

With a furious cry, she hurled the empty glass onto the polished floor, where it shattered, sending shards of crystal skittering in all directions. In one swift, brutal motion, Becky shoved me. I staggered backward, my body colliding with the jagged remnants of broken glass. A sharp, burning pain exploded in my hand, I cried out as the cold, hard pieces dug into my skin, and I fell to the ground in a tangle of limbs and despair.

I looked around the lounge and found a medium sized wooden cupboard and on top it of was some antic pieces. I walked towards the cupboard and placed all these golden pieces at the sides before lifting my leg up the cupboard. I leaned my body towards the leg, to touch my feet. When I finished doing it, I cautiously tried to put my feet down but in process, my feet touched one of the antic piece. Along with my leg, the antic piece fell down on the wooden floor. I gasped as I saw it breaking in two pieces. It was a golden colour boat along with a golden ball on top of it. And when it fell, the ball and the boat separated.

The shelves had been scattered around and books were flying all around the small space. My left leg was stuck under one of the shelves and i had to manage and pull it off in an awkward position with just two of my hands until my leg was free and i could feel the enormous pain but that did not stop me from finding the book. I had been searching while struggling with a broken foot for a book that held the rest of my future, and when i finally found it, i was completely shattered. I did not want to cry, i could not, all along i told myself i was iron woman, made of steel and nothing would break me. Nothing could.

Crash! A sharp, violent crack ripped through the sterile silence of the office. The remote control, a sleek, expensive piece of brushed metal, flew from James’s hand with terrifying force. It spun through the air like a deadly projectile, arcing across the vast room before shattering against the far wall, splintering into a dozen jagged fragments that clattered against the marble floor. The sound, sharp and final, seemed to echo his internal rage.

My hands were flat on the surface in front of me. Then something inside me broke. Not cracked. Not fractured. Broke. Completely. Catastrophically. Like a dam that had been holding back an ocean for months finally giving way. I stood up and grabbed the edge of the desk. I flipped it. The massive oak structure crashed onto its side and sent papers and maps and pens scattering across the floor. The lamp shattered. Glass exploded across the stone. I grabbed the bookshelf next. Ripped it from the wall. Books rained down around me. Their pages fluttered like wounded birds.

If I was patient enough, perhaps both at once. The pen kept tapping its rhythm on the glass. Then the crack — the one I had nearly forgotten about — split suddenly outward like a spider’s web, and the entire left side of the desktop broke free from the frame and dropped to the floor in a cascade of glass. My laptop teetered on the jagged edge for a moment before following. Shawn looked at the wreckage with wide eyes. “Oh shit,” he said, and laughed. “That’s bad.” F**king moron.

No answer. I tried the handle. It was locked. That in itself wasn’t strange. What was strange, how Weber, was the cracked bit of gladd in the corner window. It was not shattered so it was not obvious. It just had a clean, thin and curved split across the bottom pane that looked like the result of heat stress. My eyes dropped to the floorboards. There was one scorch mark near the threshold, small and almost shaped like a footprint. And that’s when my stomach sank.

Through the bond, he was sleeping peacefully. Pushing up to sit, I rubbed my eyes. The bedroom was destroyed. Even the bed itself was broken. The headboard was cracked and the legs holding the bed up must have broken. Zayle’s dresser had been cracked and a few of the drawers were broken and falling out. Not to mention the door was broken in half and fallen out into the hallway.
