I asked myself, feeling a heavy lump of pressure in my throat. Abruptly, she smiled. “That’s wonderful. I guess we have one thing in common,” she said and reclined back on the couch. She looked away from me and placed her attention on the book in her hand, flipping through the pages swiftly and skimming. “One special thing about books is that they give us the chance to live different lives, understand different forms of love, feel happy moments and…” she halted, lifted her eyes from the book, and glared at me, “…experience conspiracies and evil plots,” she spat with a frown.

In fact, I can't wait to devour it. When is it coming out? I go online on my laptop to check. Next year? I have to wait that long? Now, this is just torture. I allow myself to simmer in my frustration for a minute. If only I had someone to talk to about this book, I'd probably feel better faster, but I don't. It's sad, really. The only thing sadder than finishing a book is not having anyone to discuss it with. That's why book clubs were invented.
