I had been a bit too young back then to read what they were reading but they always listened when I gushed about my children’s books about color and magical beans, so I did my best to listen to them gush about romance or surviving zombie apocalypses. He begin to ramble on about how the place we are being trapped in is a cozy place to talk about food. "How about a movie night? We could pick a film, make some popcorn, and cozy up on the couch." I raised an eyebrow, intrigued by the suggestion. "A movie night sounds like a great idea," I said, "but only if we can pick the movie together. I don't want to end up watching something boring." She chuckled and nodded in agreement. "Deal! Let's browse through the options and see what catches our eye." We walked over to the bookshelf where the DVDs were kept, scanning the titles and discussing our preferences. As we browsed, our conversation flowed easily, touching on our favorite genres, actors, and directors. The atmosphere was relaxed, and I found myself laughing at her witty remarks and insight

Leaving the estate hadn't been easy. Arguing with Cassio definitely hasn't been easy. But I'd done it. And I was glad I did. Eventually, the heavier topics faded away. The mood lightened. I listen to Marvin and Steve as they try to figure out what they want to write their discussion paper on. “What about great literary loves?” It jumps out of my mouth. All the eyes in the circle shoot to me like they’re shocked I spoke. It fuels me, makes me eager to prove I’m not that girl. The girl who can’t just relax and be herself. Who can’t really talk. “That sounds more like a chick thing to me,” Marvin says and I roll my eyes at him. “Then go at it from a different direction,” I tell him. “Compare those characters who everyone thinks have the best love story and tear it apart. Romeo and Juliet? They fell in love just with one look? I’m sure you guys disagree with that. ”

I flash him a grin, leaning back just enough to look completely at ease. "Why don’t you pick our first book? Something we can all study over the next few weeks." He shakes his head. "You three enjoy yourselves." "You can’t have a book club with just three people," I argue, though I have no idea if that’s actually true. "But what could we say? Our families know everything about each other. They'll be suspicious if we suddenly start spending more time together." Kora’s eyes lit up. "I know! We could say that we're starting a book club together!" Kora exclaimed. "Your families know that we're both bookworms, so it won't seem weird if we start meeting up once or twice a week. And you can use that time to spend with Tom. It's perfect!" I felt a rush of hope at her suggestion. "That's actually a pretty good idea," I said, my mind racing as I considered the possibilities. "We could even meet at different places each time, so it won't seem suspicious if we're always gone for the same amount of time."
