Aubrey looked at me wanting to ask who this person was, but I didn't really know who she was, so I could only reply with a smile of goodwill. “I know you came here to inquire about Ancanta's death, so I have been here waiting for your arrival. Call me Jane. Follow me, let's go into the library that year." Although I knew that Aubrey and I were very confused, the nun Jane continued to walk, I felt a little strange but also hurried to follow in her footsteps. Mrs. Jane went to the library and entered, as fast as the wind, I did not see her. If it weren't for her to be an eighty-year-old woman, no one would have believed that at that age she could be so healthy.

She didn't want to dwell on the past because she had forgiven him, but the memory banged in her head, suffocating her. *** Jane stared over the book she held in the library, searching to make sure she was alone. The quiet had become her solace over the last year, her safe haven is the library because no one came in there during their lunch hour. She snuggled down into the beanbag in the corner of the small room and curled her legs inward. She'd finished her tuna sandwich fifteen minutes ago, which gave her thirty minutes to fall into the current book she'd picked up a few days before.

She was definitely not going to spill the beans of her sexcapades to Shelley of all people. Shelley’s smile told her that she wasn’t believing a word Jane said. “Uh huh.” Jane shook her head and gathered her books up and stuffed them into her bag. It was nearing six pm and she was hungry. She also couldn’t hide out in the library forever. It had been two weeks and she was sure that Ryan and Reid had both moved on. At least now she could say she’d had a threesome, she’d leave the stepbrother part out because that would just sound weird to most people. She ignored the looks Shelley gave her and headed out of the library and towards the café on campus where everybody ate.

"Remember when you were telling Cilvia and I that one of your hobbies is reading, and we talked about how we should have a little book club of ours and try fiction?" She asked, and I remembered. It was the conversation that was had on the last day I saw her before Jacopo decided to lock the two of us in his apartment for a month. I nodded my head. "We tried out a book, and everyone absolutely liked it." Ella added. "It would have been a lot better if you had been here. So, we were hoping maybe you could guide us on our next book. You recommend it, then we'll read it."

But he almost reached the end of a chapter, and he'd like to finish that while Rhonda went to the food counter to order her drink and get a muffin or whatever else she fancied for breakfast that morning. "May I ask what you’re reading?" Rhonda asked as she sat back down, carrying a plate of a warm blueberry muffin with a dab of melting butter sliding off its top. She probably shouldn't have started the conversation with that question. The Boss was reading Feynman's memoir. So Rhonda got to hear about Feynman, in particular how he didn't care about what other people thought if that meant he needed to water down truths.

It was Friday evening. The wine had been poured and snacks were on platters. The meeting of the Fantasy Fiction Writing Club was now in session. Selena, Joanna, and Beverly were sitting at the kitchen table in Selena’s one bedroom apartment. “Okay, ladies, who wants to go first?” Joanna asked. She worked as a maid at the Hudson Estate outside of New York City. She lived in the servant’s quarters on the estate. However, leaving the estate was the only time Joanna could wear jeans and a T-shirt and let her blonde hair down.

Was she here the whole time? She wasn’t done with her dramatics. She pulled back, still clutching Kael’s arm. “I’ve been thinking,” she announced with the same confidence she used when entering a room, “maybe I should join this book club too. I’d love to read something scandalous and fun.” Maya smiled politely. “We’re always open to new members.” “Perfect!” Hazel beamed, then turned toward me with a sharp glint in her eyes. “But… if I’m going to join, don’t you think the president should set the right example?”

Beneath were flawless downward-turned lips she knew Sean satisfyingly feasted on now and then. A grim stare in her direction had Gianna turning her face in embarrassment. He caught her staring. Should she call it a miracle that Sean hadn't looked her way all day or gotten two meters close to her? Was it due to the effect of the slap or simply a bite of guilt? Whatever it was, she hoped it lasted a while longer. "We have a book club going on, I believe you must have heard about it." Gianna began. "The book donation thingy?" "Yeah, we campaign for you to join us. If you're interested that is," she offered. "New ideas for improvements are welcome at any time." She added, for effect.

Between the hallucinations and attention of her fellow inmates, Janice had taken to spending her free time in the library, under the kind and watchful eye of Norma Schelle. She wasn't sure why the skinny, bookish woman made her feel safer, but she couldn't deny that she did. Janice set down her book, Eleanor Cameron's The Wonderful Flight to the Mushroom Kingdom, and walked over to the front desk. Here goes nothing.
