The library’s floor is polished, and it has a granite fireplace and a comfortable, well-worn sitting arrangement. I heave a sigh, relieved that Ms. Lennie isn’t around to reprimand me. I’ve always loved reading and collecting romance books at home, so seeing these shelves just makes my heart soar. I start my journey inside, searching for cookbooks. Instead, I stumble upon a book placed in a glass cage in the middle of the classics section. I lean forward, touching the glass as I try to read the title. It’s Macbeth and Hamlet by William Shakespeare. The air instantly abandons my lungs when I catch sight of the leather-bound cover. It’s very old but still stunning.

Kennedy POV. The weather was bad, but I needed to get that new book, it's Robert birthday gift, who'd knew a grown up man would kill for the newest werewolf love book. I got into my car, drove carefully toward the local book store, they had the new book reserved for me. It was supposed to one quick drive, until I walked into the library. A girl was sitting on a bean bag, her blond hair was covering her eyes with overgrown bangs, she tried to huff them away from her face but to no use. She looked young, maybe she's just here with her parents, looking down at the book she had in her hands it was a kids story. Does she read for the local kids? Or is it just for her?

The ladies all giggle and Julie stands, handing a new bookmark to each of us. "Yes. We figured we'd get you ones that suited you a little better." she says. The new one is dark blue with gold lettering that says 'Real men read dirty books'. I smile and look over at Ev who's showing Harper his excitedly. "These are great. Thank you." I say just as Bri nudges me. "Oh! Tell them your joke, love!" Harper says excitedly. Ev rolls his eyes before addressing the group.

London was in the second living room next to the balcony, reading a book she found on the shelf. “Ariel is going to give you the shot,” I announced as we walked inside. London nearly jumped out of her skin at my unannounced presence. “Geez, a heads-up would have been nice…” “Don’t forget you’re beneath us,” Ariel said coldly. “Drop the entitlement, and shut your mouth.” London’s eyes snapped open, affronted by the cold insult. I tried not to smile. Ariel was a lot to take in—until you got to know her.

One of the assistants came over to take off the mic still attached to me, in the process, her arm knocked into the bookshelf. A few of the books on it were knocked down. One, dropping down painfully on my feet. “I’m so sorry.” She blurted, bending down to gather all the books. I bent to help her. After picking up a few of the books, I made to carry them over to the table when my eyes suddenly caught on the one at the very top. I didn’t know how many times I could claim coincidence for some of the things between London and I. But this, this was definitely not a coincidence.

London nodded his head and started reading his book. Everyone focused on what they were doing for the next hour. The smell of freshly fried chicken steak pervaded the kitchen and into the living room. Caleb and London locked their eyes when they both turned to the kitchen at the same time. Caleb was done moving in the boxes while London was almost finished with his book. “Now I’m famished,” Caleb mumbled with a warm smile as he rubbed his stomach. “Aren’t you a mafia boss? You should have at least something to eat at your place, don’t you?” London faked a smile and focused his eyes back on the page he was reading.

Everyone agrees, and they spend the next hour debating which book to choose. The group decides to read "Neverwhere," a novel that takes place in a fantastical version of London. They're all eager to dive into the story, and Hazel feels a sense of pride in bringing them together like this. She loves her job and the community it has helped her build. When the book club meeting is over, the members linger in the library, reluctant to part ways.
