The Burning
Just for a moment.
Ben moved closer to me, his hand brushing against mine. It was a small gesture, barely noticeable, but it sent a warm shiver through my body. I looked up at him, our eyes meeting in the dim light, and for the first time in what felt like forever, I let myself breathe.
"We need to keep moving," Ben said, but his voice had softened, his gaze lingering on mine just a little too long. "We'll rest once we’re further out."
I nodded, though my legs felt like they could give out at any second.
